The future of transportation is electric

Why EV Switch Was Created?

It’s simple: to ensure more Australians can enjoy the benefits and cost savings of driving electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid EVs. In Australia, there is a significant lack of charging infrastructure. While much focus and money has been spent on highway chargers, which are important, the critical need for everyday charging infrastructure has been overlooked. With EV Switch, we aim to address this problem and do it quickly.

Internationally, in countries where mass EV adoption has occurred, such as Norway and China, the key charging infrastructure consists of ‘low wattage’ chargers - lots of them. EV Switch offers a 7kW charger product and is committed to delivering 100,000 units across Australia.

Why is low wattage charging so important?

Low wattage charging offers a cost-effective, reasonably fast, and convenient solution designed to allow the deployment of a large number of chargers without placing a significant burden on the energy grid. The concept is straightforward: whether at home, work, shopping centers, sports fields, parking lots, or any other location where you park your car - if 7kW chargers are available, more people can confidently switch to EVs, knowing that range anxiety is no longer an issue. Our vision for Australia is that wherever you park, you can plug in.
A 7kW charger provides approximately 50 kilometers of driving range per hour of charging. So, if you spend two hours shopping, you can easily top up your vehicle with an additional 100 kilometers of range. It’s that simple. Our mission is to deploy 100,000 chargers by the end of 2026, achieving this at the lowest possible cost and without requiring major grid upgrades. This is smart, convenient charging infrastructure designed to make charging easy and affordable for everyone.
